Second Sunday of Lent

Message from the Rector

Over the next few weeks we will be running a Lenten discussion group focusing on the forty days and nights which our Lord spent in the wilderness. As we were reminded in last Sunday’s Gospel from Luke, during that time Jesus faced many temptations from the Devil, even if just three of these are mentioned – if you are hungry you should turn these stones into bread; if you want absolute power over the kingdoms of this earth you should kneel down now and worship me; if you jump from this elevated position you are not going to get hurt. In each case, Jesus gave an appropriate response, quoting from God’s Word as revealed in the Hebrew scrolls – human beings do not live by bread alone but need food of the spirit which only the Word of God can provide........:......
