Third Sunday of Lent


Message from the Rector

Luke’s Gospel narrates Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, starting with the words ‘it came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem’ (Luke 9v51). Our Gospel reading for this Sunday shows Jesus in the midst of the journey, doing God’s work of healing and teaching and unafraid of danger. Jesus was confident of God’s power expressed in these acts of service to the people, and yet he was also saddened by the response of those who would neither listen to his teaching nor believe in the power of the Holy Spirit.
