Message from the Rector

In Tabgha, on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee, there is a beautiful little church which is called The Mensa Christi, the Church of the Primacy of St Peter, accepted traditionally as the site where the Risen Christ ate bread and fish for breakfast with ‘Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples’ (John 21v2). As we are reminded in the story of Maundy Thursday, Peter denied Jesus three times when he was called upon to associate himself publicly with the Lord. The church in Tabgha commemorates God’s act of love and forgiveness seen in terms of Jesus’ reinstatement of Peter as chief among the Apostles.
