Fourth Sunday after Easter

Message from the Rector

The church collection today will go towards mission work, education and sport at St James Mission in Nyamandlovu, Zimbabwe where I was born and bred. The money will be used to provide books, writing materials and sporting equipment at the Primary School and to support the annual prize giving day in November. During my time there, the older children had to share pens and pencils whilst the younger graders had to write on the sand with their little fingers. Yes, I did all that. It was a privilege to be able to attend a Mission School, started by the Revd Canon Francis Boatwright, a Church of England missionary who was supported by the London-based United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG). Boatwright was a champion of African education and Christian service. To encourage time keeping, he would talk about Big Ben Clock Tower in London; but Boatwright also reminded us about the need not to arrive on time when one was invited for a meal......:......
