Last week the we joined the wise men or magi as they made their way to the place where Mary and Joseph were staying, most likely at their home in Nazareth, and saw the visitor present their special gifts to Jesus, the Son of God – gold, frankincense and myrrh. The magi had followed a star all the way through the desert, King Herod’s palace in Jerusalem and finally arrived at his home. They were not the only people to be drawn to Jesus: the shepherds were among the first to visit him in Bethlehem, where they found him lying in a manger inside a stable.......
