Next Sunday we will have an opportunity to recognise and thank our Pastoral Partners during the Joint Service. Friendship can be exercised and lived through pastoral partnerships and this understanding of pastoral care is based on Christ’s teaching to abide in his love and follow his lead. In John 15:9-11 Jesus says, ‘As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.’ As the good shepherd of the sheep, Jesus also says, ‘“… anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit.......:......
