The issue of Jesus’ authority to exorcise demons and bring healing to the sick and suffering is confounded the scribes and other religious leaders in Galilee. Although most of the people who heard Jesus speak and witnessed him performing miracles were astonished at his powers, as one who taught with authority, there were some who disagreed with his way of teaching. By contrasting his teaching with that of the scribes, we can see that Jesus taught and acted with greater freedom with the others – Jesus premised his works on God and the first thing that he always did was pray. Through prayer, therefore, Jesus found great freedom and authority, as a result he could act without hindrance since his power came from a higher source, the Almighty God.:......
